At least two young girls were killed when a bus carrying 55 schoolgirls and teachers crashed into the Nile river at Kafr Shoukr, 65 kilometers (40 miles) north of Cairo, overnight Friday.
The bus was bringing the children back to Damiette after a school trip to Cairo when it plunged into the Nile as it was trying to avoid a truck, according to a source from the local authorities.
The bodies of two ten-year-old girls were recovered from the water, the source said, adding that a further 21 were injured. The search for other victims was continuing Saturday -- KAFR SHOUKR, Egypt (AFP)
