An Iraqi woman was killed on Wednesday after a suicide bomber blew himself up in the northern Iraqi town of Mosul. Eight others were killed, including two policemen when a man opened fire on them in the town of Boquba, north of Baghdad.
Eight policemen and two civilians were also wounded in the Mosul attack, according to Reuters. The bomber was apparently wearing a police uniform at the time of the attack.
In Baghdad, an Iraqi civilian was killed and another wounded when a roadside bomb exploded in the city's Saidiya district, said the Interior Ministry.
Six other were wounded, including three civilians and three policemen in the town of Falluja when a roadside bomb was detonated near a U.S. patrol, security sources reported.
Iraqi police also reported that six bodies had been pulled from a small river near the village of Latifiya on Tuesday. Police added that they had killed one resistance fighter and arrested 29 others in cities throughout Iraq over the last 24 hours, while another fighter had been killed by police in the town of Al Hay on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein returned to court on Wednesday along with six-other co-defendants for the third day of proceedings as he faces charges of genocide and war crimes.
The ex-leader is charged with being behind the death of tens of thousands of Kurdish Iraqis in 1988 in what has been termed the Anfal Campaign.
Saddam had previously stood trial for war crimes related to the death of 148 Kurds in the northern town of Dujail. A verdict has not yet been reached regarding the first trial.
If found guilty for either charges, Saddam could face the death penalty.
