Gunmen ambushed Sunday a convoy of trucks carrying construction materials for U.S. military north of Baghdad, killing four Iraqi drivers, police said. A police general was killed in a roadside bombing in northern Iraq.
The ambush took place near Nibaie, some 35 miles north of the capital, police Lt. Khalid al-Obaidi said, according to the AP.
Also Sunday, police found bodies of three men in Baghdad's Sadr City.
Elsewhere, police Brig. Gen. Hatim Khalaf and his driver died when a roadside bomb detonated 20 miles southwest of Kirkuk, police said. Khalaf was the head of the operations center for the police in Kirkuk.
In another blast, two policemen were wounded Sunday in Fallujah, west of Baghdad.
Sunday's incidents came a day after 20 people died bombings and shootings.
