Kuwaiti speaker of the national assembly Jassem al-Khorafi on Saturday called for keeping the case of the director of the Kuwaiti information bureau in Washington Shafiq al-Ghabra clear of side conflicts.
The diplomat has attended a forum in New York in which Israeli figures participated, stirring a wave of criticism at home.
Al-Khorafi, in a statement to journalists, said the case should be left for the information minister and acting oil minister sheikh Ahmad al-Fahd al-Sabah "which he can tackle in a wide manner free of any conflicts and unnecessary confrontations."
The case of Al-Ghabra has been blown far out of proportion, al-Khorafi was quoted by the Kuwaiti official news agency (KUNA) as saying, adding, "No one should forget the positive role of Dr. Al-Ghabra! in serving the interests and causes of the state of Kuwait."
"The error must not be tackled with another fault," he added. (Albawaba.com)
