The emir of the Gulf State of Kuwait, Sheikh Jaber al-Ahmad al-Sabah, has returned home after nearly four months of treatment in the United Kingdom at London's Cromwell Hospital, after he suffered a brain hemorrhage.
Senior officials greeted the 73-year-old ruler at the Kuwait airport. His return is to be marked by nationwide celebrations over the coming three days.
He left Kuwait on September 21, after he collapsed from the condition. His absence marked the longest period of time that the ruler was absent from his homeland (apart from his exile when Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1990), since he began ruling in 1977. Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmed al-Sabah, the brother of the emir was responsible for the day-to-day running of the country while the ruler recovered.
Meanwhile, an Internet website was launched especially for the emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, to receive congratulations from the people and residents of Kuwait and anyone from the outside on the ruler's coming home. (Albawaba.com)
