ALBAWABA - According to U.S. President Donald Trump, Washington previously provided firearms to anti-government demonstrators in Iran via Kurdish middlemen, although it's possible that the munitions never made it to their intended receivers.

Trump said that a sizable amount of weapons had been given earlier this year in an interview with Fox News, but he implied that Kurdish organizations were still in charge of them.

Specifics of the Plan

The remarks coincide with revelations that the US had contemplated a more comprehensive plan that would have included Kurdish fighters in possible actions aimed at Iran. According to reports, the plan was intended to promote internal opposition movements and incite instability in the nation.

However, the plan encountered difficulties once information about the operation was disclosed, leading Iran to bolster its defenses in strategic border areas, according to Israeli media reports.

Retraction from Kurdish Involvement

According to reports, due to pressure from regional allies and reluctance within the parties themselves, Washington eventually withdrew its involvement with Kurdish forces, including Iranian Kurdish groups.

Large numbers of Kurdish fighters from neighboring Iraq would have entered Iranian territory under the proposed plan, with Israeli and American air backing.

Persistent Tensions

The revelation highlights the intricacy of the fight as well as the difficulties associated with clandestine support operations, adding even another dimension to the escalating tensions in the area.
