Kodak supports 'GO GREEN' with launch of new Digital photo minilab

Kodak introduces all new Adaptive Picture Exchange, an innovative, modular Dry-Lab system

Kodak, the world's foremost imaging innovator, held a launch event in Dubai to regionally launch its new innovative digital minilab, the KODAK Adaptive Picture Exchange (APEX). The two day trade event hosted owners of UAE’s largest retail chain of Kodak Express stores and distinguished members of the photo trade.

With the launch of this powerful new behind-the-counter thermal dry-lab system Kodak supports the initiative to ‘Go Green’. The modular system provides an integrated and industry-leading retailer solution at much lower costs and incomparable savings on space, energy consumption, start-up time and ease of use.

Say farewell to mixing chemicals, large installation space, high energy costs, complicated interfaces and poor efficiency as the APEX is the ideal solution to all these worries. In fact up to 93% less energy is required for operation of the APEX system as compared to a regular wet minilab.

Speaking at the launch of APEX dry lab, Arif Khan, Area Manager Kodak (Near East) Inc. said, “Retailers need solutions that provide dramatic profitability improvements while minimizing capital expenditure. They need new imaging products to add to their revenue streams and capitalize on the new imaging trends. Kodak has developed the ideal low cost solution to meet today’s demands. The technology and software used is state of the art and is evidence of Kodak’s efforts to help the retailers with a complete photo-finishing solution.”

The APEX system features multiple innovations with Kodak’s market-proven applications - a combination that provides retailers with unprecedented adaptability, ease-of-use, flexibility and scalability to produce profitable, high quality photo products, while dramatically reducing retailer costs and complexity. All Kodak products are developed by keeping consumers in the forefront.

Modular components within APEX include the KODAK 7000 Photo Printer, KODAK XtraLife II thermal media, KODAK DL2100 Duplex Printer and a highly ergonomic and easy to use overall design. The adaptive system allows retailers to scale from low to high volume environments, as business needs expand.

• KODAK 7000 Photo Printer and KODAK XtraLife II Media:  With KODAK 7000 photo printer you can print single-sided photo books, calendars, enlargements, bordered prints. Kodak has combined the patented Ribbon optimization technology and Kodak Dual finish technology for incredible efficiency. The new KODAK XtraLife II thermal paper offers durable, stain resistance and brilliant prints that your customers expect from Kodak and it has been optimized for high production on the KODAK 7000 photo printer.

• KODAK DL2100 Duplex Printer: The new KODAK DL2100 Duplex Printer enables retailers to quickly and easily create Kodak-quality double-sided photo books, calendars and greeting cards in a very small footprint device. Only the KODAK DL2100 Duplex Printer delivers the combination of Kodak quality, high-speed performance, reliability and low price to the retail printing industry.

• New APEX Workstation: Retailers can connect to both your existing G3 LS, G4 and G4x Kiosks and direct rendering-intensive tasks to the APEX workstation for faster processing, providing improved consumer satisfaction, minimized lines and therefore improved profit potential. Retailers can also connect to their own websites or to external service and product providers. With the system, retailers can accept, manage and produce premium product orders.

“APEX is a totally new design in dry lab systems, designed to meet the evolving needs of retailers of any size in any channel. Retailers can connect current KODAK Order Stations to the Adaptive Picture Exchange to fulfill consumer’s standard print orders. They can also tap APEX's ability to accept, manage and produce premium product orders like posters, single and double-sided photo books, calendars, greeting cards and KODAK Picture Movie DVDs”, added Khan.

Through greater ease of operation and flexibility, the new system reduces setup and training time and increases employee productivity. These new products and services combine with, and complement any existing Kodak retail solutions to help retailers maximize revenue opportunities with both current and future offerings.

Kodak’s APEX system leverages new scalable and modular designs in order to ensure maximum efficiency in retailer environments while bringing the form and function of the photofinishing department into the 21st century.
