A Georgian man, held hostage along with two Spanish businessmen in a remote frontier region of the troubled Caucasus country was released by his kidnappers Wednesday, police said.
Valery Samkharadze, 52, who was seized last Friday, was released without use of force after indirect talks between police and the hostage-takers, local police chief Temur Arabuli told AFP.
Officials say six people, including Jose Antonio Tremino and Francisco Rodriguez, are still being held in Georgia's eastern Pankiyski gorge, which is heavily populated by ethnic Chechens.
The two Spaniards were abducted on their way to Tbilisi airport last Thursday by four armed men in masks, who beat up the businessmen's police escort and forced the two Spaniards into an Opel car -- TBILISI (AFP)
