Iran's President Mohammad Khatami stressed Sunday
the readiness of Iran's armed forces to confront threats, and described any action against the Islamic Republic as "extremely unwise."
Khatami, speaking before an annual military parade, stated the forces are currently in a status of full readiness to thwart the ill wishes of "whoever is casting covetous eyes on the Islamic Republic."
"Iran's defense capability, relying on a nation-wide backing, will support a dignified peace in the region, and will champion any campaign for an international peace based on justice in a world fraught with injustice, discrimination, aggression and violence," the Iranian president was quoted as saying by IRNA.
