Iran's President Mohammad Khatami said Wednesday that any referral of his country's nuclear case to the Security Council of the United Nations was an indication of the UN nuclear watchdog's failure and its impotence to solve a problem by its own.

Speaking to reporters after the weekly cabinet meeting, the Iranian leader voiced hope that Iran's nuclear case would

not be referred to the UN Security Council. "We will try our best to prevent referral of Iran's case to the Security Council," stressed Khatami.
