As part of his regular support to education around the world, Mr. Khalaf Al Habtoor, chairman of Al Habtoor Group, received in his offices, a delegation from the American University of Cairo.
Mrs. Mary Iskander, Senior Advisor to the President, and Mr. Ken Manotti, Vice president, office of institutional advancement expressed to Mr. Al Habtoor the university's gratitude. "The new Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Track and Stadium has made the AUC the object of envy of all the universities in cairo and the region. Our students are enjoying tremendously" Mr. Manotti said.
The attendants reviewed the progress of the final stages of the "Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Track and Stadium," a generous donation from Mr. Khalaf in support of the American University in Cairo, which will be officially inaugurated in the winter 2010 / 2011. "We came to Dubai on behalf of the president of the university and its trustees especially to meet Mr. Al Habtoor and to invite him to come to our campus and spend a day with our faculty, a day which we wish to organize in his honor" commented Mrs. Iskander.
Mr. Manotti briefed Mr. Al Habtoor on the new students who come from the west, especially the United States of America to major in Islamic Studies, and invited Mr. Al Habtoor to hold a lecture, to speak to the students about his experience in life and business.
The meeting, which included the COO of Al Habtoor Group, Mr. Alaa El Husseini and other executives from Al Habtoor Group, concluded on the promise to meet next in Cairo.
Mr. Al Habtoor had recently visited Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois where he looked at the progress at the "Al Habtoor Leadership Center", the most recent project in keeping with his interest and commitment to general human welfare and education worldwide.
On another note, as part of his regular social calendar, Mr. Al Habtoor, chairman of the 40-year-old Al Habtoor Group, recently met in his office with the three consuls of the republic of Singapore; Consul General Mr. Dileep Nair, Vice Consul for commercial Mr. Dean Tan and Consul for commercial Mr. Lim Ban Hoe Danny. Mr. Khalaf also received the Russian Consul General Mr. Sergy Krasnogor. Mr Khalaf exchanged his views with their excellencies on the economical situation in the United Arab Emirates and the world, and ways to enforce the relations between the UAE and Singapore and Russia respectively.
