Residents of west Amman and selected areas of Salt and Balqa should have noticed in recent weeks that their tap water lacks the odor and taste of chlorine, the Jordan Times reported Sunday, quoting water officials as saying.

The management of the Zai Water Treatment Plant (ZWTP) has reduced the use of chlorine in favor of chlorine dioxide, a chemical that decomposes quickly after killing bacteria and pathogens in the water and making it fit for human consumption, the daily said.
