Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak is expected in Amman this week to discuss with King Abdullah II the latest developments in the Middle East peace process, Jordanian Foreign Minister Abdel-Ilah Khatib said Sunday.
"The peace process at this decisive and delicate phase will be at the center" of the king's talks with Barak, planned for Wednesday, Khatib said.
The two leaders will also review "Jordan's constant efforts toward advancing the peace process," the minister said.
Shortly after the collapse last month of the Camp David peace summit, Barak dispatched senior negotiator Oded Eran to Jordan to brief Khatib on the talks.
On July 8th, three days before the summit began, Barak himself traveled to Amman for talks with the king.
Jordan has reiterated its rejection of any Israeli sovereignty over east Jerusalem, which the Palestinians want as a capital of a future state - AMMAN (AFP)
