About 4,000 American soldiers are due to leave Jordan on Wednesday after three weeks of joint military exercises with Jordanian forces, Jordanian Prime Minister Ali Abu Ragheb said on Monday. "The American forces who participated in the routine maneuvers with the Jordanian army will leave the kingdom Wednesday," Abu Ragheb told reporters.
The Jordanian government has virtually imposed a news blackout on the maneuver codenamd "Infinite Moonlight," which was held in the south of the country.
Both US and Jordanian officials emphasized the exercises were routine. They rejected any connections between this maneuver and US schemes to attack Iraq.
Abu Ragheb has reiterated Jordan's opposition to any military move against Iraq, adding the strike would have serious repercussion on the whole region. (Albawaba.com)
