Jordan has evacuated nearly 300 nationals from Yemen, AFP reported Monday, with hundreds still left in the conflict-torn country.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Sabah al-Rafei said another 130 Jordanians were evacuated Monday through Saudi Arabia after 157 fleed in the past two days.
"We are still working to ensure that all Jordanians are evacuated," Rafei said in the state news agency Petra.
The kingdom follows several countries that have made efforts to evacuate their citizens, including China, Turkey and India. About 1,000 Jordanians have been living in Yemen and Jordan has been in contact with almost all of them, the foreign ministry said.
Jordanian forces have been involved in the Saudi-led coalition's operation, which has conducted air raids targeting Houthi fighters in its defense for the internationally recognized government.
Violence escalated in the country when Houthi forces advanced in the southern port city of Aden, a former stronghold of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, forcing the leader to flee the country and beginning a series of airstrikes by Saudi Arabia.
The UN said more than 500 people have been killed in less than three weeks.
