Jordanian Foreign Minister Abdel Ilah Khatib on Sunday denounced the deadly Palestinian suicide attacks against civilians in occupied Jerusalem, stressing that such violence serves no one.
"Jordan denounces attacks on civilians and hopes that the losses in human lives in addition to all the losses sustained in the past 14 months will be enough to persuade everyone that these bloody confrontations will not achieve any results for any of the parties," Khatib said in a statement to AFP.
"Violence will only breed more violence," Khatib warned, stressing the need for "serious negotiations" between Israel and the Palestinians to guarantee security for both sides.
Two Palestinian suicide bombers killed themselves and 10 Israelis when they blew themselves up in a crowded area of occupied Jerusalem late Saturday. It was the third suicide operation in Israel since US peace envoys arrived in the region last Monday.
A fourth attack happened later Sunday when explosions ripped through two buses in the Israeli port of Haifa, killing 16 and injuring 55 by midday.
The US, the Palestinian Authority and Egypt have condemned the Jerusalem bombing.
According to news agencies, Israelis have suffered more than 200 casualties and 2,000 wounded in the latest Palestinian uprising against 34 years of military occupation.
Palestinians, according to the Tel Aviv-based Haaretz newspaper, have suffered over 700 killed and from 8,500 to 10,000 wounded.
