The Jordanian government has decided to reduce an exit tax imposed on all foreigners leaving the kingdom as part of steps to encourage tourism, official said Wednesday.
Foreigners, residents and visitors, leaving Jordan will now pay five dinars (seven dollars) in exit tax instead of 10 dinars (14 dollars) when flying out and four dinars (4.8 dollars) at land borders.
Jordanians however will continue paying a steep 25-dinar (35 dollars) exit tax when they fly out of their country and must spend eight dinars (11.2 dollars) at land borders.
The decision to reduce the tax for foreigners was taken Tuesday during a cabinet meeting.
