Jordan's King Abdullah II will hold talks Thursday with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh on putting an end to the Middle East crisis, the Jordanian foreign minister told AFP.

"The meeting is part of the contacts underway between the concerned parties to put an end to the aggressions committed against the Palestinian people and unify Arab ranks," Abdel-Ilah al-Khatib said.

Mubarak and Abdullah exchanged views in a telephone conversation on Wednesday and agreed to hold the summit in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, he said.

A Jordanian official source, meanwhile, told AFP that Abdullah could also visit Saudi Arabia next week for similar talks with King Fahd.

Khatib carried a message to the Saudi leadership from Abdullah on Tuesday concerning the tension in the Middle East.

On Monday, Khatib paid a similar visit to Damascus where he delivered a message to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad from Abdullah on the latest developments – AMMAN (AFP)
