Both terrorists who carried out Tuesday's deadly attack at a synagogue in Jerusalem were Palestinian residents of the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Jabel Mukabaer.

A security source it was too early to confirm or deny Palestinian reports that the men are relatives of terrorists released in the Schalit prisoner exchange.

Palestinian sources reported that the two suspects were cousins Uday and Rassan Abu Jamal, according to Israel Radio.

According to Palestinian media reports, Israeli security forces were conducting search at the homes of the suspects.

According to police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld, at approximately 7:15am on Tuesday two Palestinian men from east Jerusalem armed with axes, knives and pistols killed four worshipers and seriously wounded eight others, including two police officers at Bnei Torah synagogue in Har Nof.

The suspects were shot dead in front of the synagogue.

Rosenfeld added that heightened security has been implemented throughout the city.
