Jacky’s Electronics records 60% sales increase during GITEX Shopper 2008
Stylish notebooks and gaming consoles fuel demand this year
Jacky's Electronics, the UAE’s number one multi-brand consumer electronics retailer, has posted its highest record with an approximate 60 per cent sales increase during Gitex Shopper and Consumer Electronics 2008.
The most in-demand products at Jacky’s during the event were notebooks from Sony Vaio, HP, Dell, Toshiba and Acer, contributing for nearly two-thirds of the total sales. The gaming products and consoles were also a runway hit thanks to the company’s participation at the Gitex Digital Game World.
“GITEX Shopper continues to be a notebook selling event as a lot of vendors launched sleeker and stylish products with improved looks. Better processing power was also a major driver for the growth this year thanks to technologies such as Intel Centrino 2 processor giving longer battery life and better wireless performance. The innovative designs of HP’s new range of notebooks, Sony Viao and Dell laptops’ rainbow colour models were consistently the most purchased products at Gitex. Meanwhile, many customers opted for Acer and Toshiba’s enhanced features and functionalities,” said Jimmy Patel, General Manager, Jacky’s Electronics.
“In gaming, with Sony’s Blu-ray technology, Sony PlayStation 3 continues to gain a wider acceptance as well as generating further excitement about the new technology. Also, among the saleable gaming products were Sony’s new PSP slim, Nintendo’s revolutionary interactive Wii and Microsoft’s Xbox Elite.,” he added.
During Gitex, Jacky’s has also recorded growth in sales in the business phone segment through sets such as the BlackBerry, HTC and the Nokia E-series. BlackBerry’s newly launched Bold series was an attraction due to its built-in high speed Internet accessibility and innovative features. Additionally, the company saw robust growth in the LCD and Plasma screens segment. In the photographic segment, there was a clear shift this year towards hybrid High Definition cameras that can record video and take pictures simultaneously directly onto the hard disk and memory card.
“This year’s Gitex, we have seen a variety of shoppers coming in not only from Dubai but also from Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Sharjah. There were also more expatriates and GCC visitors particularly Omani nationals and local Emiratis who visited Gitex to buy the latest technological products in the market.
“Gitex Shopper remains the biggest event that Jacky’s participates every year and our hard work has cemented our leading position in the retail segment. This year’s innovative sales and promotions strategies implemented by our 600-dependable team made Gitex Shopper 2008 a huge success for Jacky’s,” concluded Patel.
Jacky’s Electronics has confirmed participation in the next Gitex Shopper and Consumer Electronics 2009.
