ALBAWABA- The Israeli military has intensified its operations in Lebanon, launching airstrikes, drone attacks, and artillery shelling across multiple locations amid ongoing clashes with Hezbollah.
Israeli airstrikes targeted a residential apartment in the Choueifat area near Beirut and struck numerous locations in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley, including Baalbek, Tyre, Nabatieh, and Hermel.
Drone strikes were reported in Tyre and Yanouh, while artillery fire hit Al-Naqoura. In Shama, buildings were reduced to rubble in a wave of demolitions.
Lebanese health authorities reported 12 deaths in the Tyre area and six more fatalities, along with four injuries, in Maarkaba.
In retaliation, Hezbollah fighters launched significant counterattacks, including the destruction of an Israeli Merkava tank west of Shama with a guided missile, reportedly killing or wounding its crew.
They also targeted a gathering of Israeli forces in the Al-Malikiyah settlement with a rocket barrage. Hezbollah stated that in a single day, it fired 350 rockets into Israel, including 17 targeting Tel Aviv, forcing 4 million Israelis into shelters.
Cross-border tensions escalated further with explosions reported near the Nahariya area in northern Israel. Clashes broke out on the outskirts of Khiyam as Israeli forces attempted to advance from Ibl al-Saqi.
This surge in violence underscores the growing humanitarian toll and the increasing threat of a broader regional conflict, with international calls for a ceasefire remaining unheeded.
