Two Jews, a father and his son from Haifa, were arrested by the Israeli secret service (Shin Bet) and police on suspicion that over the past three years they planted bombs in mosques and under the car of Arab Knesset Member, Issam Makhoul. The bomb went off while Mrs. Makhoul was driving the car, but she escaped injury.
Commenting on the issue, MK Makhoul said he was happy with the work of the Israeli police, adding the discovered cell was just the "tip of the iceberg."
The two, aged 22 and 54, planned to carry out a series of other terror attacks against Arabs in their hometown, reports said. Israel's police revealed details of the arrest Thursday afternoon.
The father, an employee of the Israeli Army, is suspected of stealing explosives and weapons and supplying them to his son for the attacks. The two suspects are responsible, according to police, for several explosions in the Arab neighborhood of Halisa in Haifa. A total of three persons were lightly injured in these attacks. Police said he was motivated by a "pure hate for Arabs." (Albawaba.com)
