ALBAWABA - The Gaza government media office released a statement saying that 5 journalists were killed in the last 24 hours across various locations, raising the number of journalists killed by Israel in Gaza to 158.

The government's media office and human rights organizations have repeatedly warned that the Israeli army has been deliberately targeting Palestinian journalists from the beginning of the conflict in Gaza to prevent the reporting of its "crimes" in the besieged strip.

According to data and statistics from the International Committee to Protect Journalists, the conflict in Gaza has become "the bloodiest for journalists" since the committee began monitoring journalist fatalities across the world in 1992.

The Gaza media office said Saturday that the Israeli forces killed three journalists in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza. Two of those who were killed worked for the Palestine Media Agency. The other journalist was from the Islamic University Radio in Gaza.

"Since October 7, Israel has been arresting Palestinian journalists in record numbers and using administrative detention to keep them behind bars, thus depriving the region not only of much-needed information but also of Palestinian voices on the conflict," said CPJ Program Director Carlos Martínez de la Serna in New York.

Al-Aqsa Flood operation against Israel

Hamas military group announced on Oct. 7 a military operation called "Al-Aqsa Flood" against Israel which is the biggest offensive in decades.

Palestinian fighters “infiltrated” Israel from the Gaza Strip and captured military bases and took hostages as photos and videos went viral online showing Hamas fighters on vehicles inside Israel and others paragliding into occupation territory.

In response, Israeli armed forces announced targeting Hamas positions inside the Gaza Strip. Thousands were killed, and dozens of thousands of others were injured in the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.

The latest statistics by the Ministry of Health in Gaza revealed that the death toll from Israeli brutal pounding on the Gaza Strip since October 7 has soared to 38,098+ people, with more than 87,705+ injuries.

Since then, approximately 85% of Gazans have been displaced, all of whom are suffering from severe food insecurity, and the healthcare system has collapsed. Hundreds of thousands of people lack shelter, and aid trucks are entering the area at a lower rate than before the conflict began.
