ALBAWABA- The Israeli Broadcasting Authority announced that Yahya Sinwar, the head of the Hamas movement, was assassinated during an Israeli military operation in the Gaza Strip.

According to Israeli reports, Sinwar was killed in an airstrike targeting the Jabaliya area, along with other Hamas fighters. Israeli Defense Minister stated, "We will reach every terrorist and eliminate him," following the confirmation of Sinwar's death.

The Israeli Army Radio reported that Sinwar's elimination was confirmed through forensic tests, although his location had not been previously known to Israeli intelligence (Shabak). The operation's success was characterized as accidental, resulting from ongoing airstrikes rather than specific intelligence.

According to the Israeli military, Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and his brother Mohammed were killed during a clash in the Rafah area.

The operation involved deploying a drone to the Sultan neighborhood, where Sinwar's body was located.

To confirm his identity, the army called in officials who had previously interrogated Sinwar for initial identification before conducting a DNA test to verify the findings.

Following the assassination, the IDF Chief of Staff and security officials met to assess the current situation, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu set to convene an emergency meeting to evaluate the potential implications.

The death of Yahya Sinwar is significant, as he was considered the successor to Ismail Haniyeh, who himself was killed in an Israeli operation in Tehran last July.
