ALBAWABA- Israel launched more than ten airstrikes on Yemen’s capital late Thursday, targeting what it claimed were Houthi military sites, including command centers, weapons depots, and a control room linked to the group’s General Staff.
Residents reported powerful blasts in Al-Jiraf and across northern and southern Sana’a, coinciding with a televised speech by Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi.
Israeli media provided further details of the strikes, with Army Radio reporting that more than 65 munitions were used the largest number in a single airstrike on Yemen to date.
Channel 14 said 20 fighter jets took part in the assault on Sana’a, while Channel 12 cited a senior security official confirming plans to intensify operations against the Houthis.
According to the Israeli Government Press Office, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu personally authorized the strike on Sana’a while en route to New York.
Israeli Defense Minister allegedly said the strikes killed “dozens of Houthi fighters,” while Houthi-run Saba News Agency denounced the raids as fresh “Israeli aggression” hitting civilian areas, including near a power station.
Israeli media outlets described the strikes as an assassination campaign against Houthi commanders.
The attack came just a day after a Houthi drone struck a hotel resort in Israel’s southern city of Eilat, injuring dozens, in retaliation for earlier Israeli strikes on Sana’a that killed more than 40 people.
The escalating tit-for-tat attacks highlight the widening regional fallout of Israel’s war in Gaza, with Yemen’s Houthis framing their operations as direct support for Palestinians.
