Israeli forces raided the northern West Bank city of Nablus early on Tuesday morning and detained five young Palestinian men.

Locals told a Ma'an reporter that several Israeli military vehicles stormed the Old city of Nablus and several other neighborhoods at 2 a.m. before they detained 20-year-old Imad Addin Ahmad Halawah, 20-year-old Raed Sami Hamdan, 21-year-old Bashir Raji Taqtouq, Wajdi Qanadilu and Rami Kilbani in their twenties.

An Israeli army spokeswoman confirmed the detentions, adding that they were detained for "suspicion for involvement in illegal activity."

The internationally recognized Palestinian territories of which the West Bank and East Jerusalem form a part have been occupied by the Israeli military since 1967.
