The Israeli security apparatus fears that Knesset members are potential targets for armed Palestinian resistance fighters, and has issued a list of precautions the deputies should take for their personal safety, reported the Israeli press and agencies on Monday.

In a letter forwarded to the MKs by the parliamentary security department, they were asked be watchful regarding any suspicious-looking person in their residential areas, and to draw the curtains on the windows of their houses in order to confuse snipers.

They were also asked to be careful of unfamiliar vehicles parking in their areas.

According to the security official, threats are not only limited to Israel, but are also expected if the deputies leave the country.

They advised MKs who go abroad not to wear the Jewish cap, kippa, or other Jewish symbols.

The officers even contacted by telephone deputies vacationing abroad to communicate the new instructions, amid reports of expected attacks on key Israeli figures – Albawaba.com
