ALBAWABA- The Israeli army announced that it intercepted a missile fired from Yemen—the first such attack since the January 19 ceasefire in Gaza took effect.
Sirens were activated in several southern areas, but no further details were provided.
The Houthi military spokesperson confirmed the attack, announcing on X that the Houthi-run Yemeni army launched a hypersonic ballistic missile at Israel's Nevatim Air Base, claiming it successfully hit its target in response to ongoing Israeli massacres in Gaza.
The Houthis had halted their missile and drone strikes on Israel following the Qatar-Egypt-brokered ceasefire agreement.
However, after Israel resumed its military aggression in Gaza and imposed new sanctions, the Houthis retaliated by imposing sanctions on vessels bound for Israel, warning of further escalation unless humanitarian aid was allowed into the besieged enclave.
In response, the U.S. launched a series of unprecedented airstrikes on Yemen, as announced by the Trump administration, aiming to pressure the Houthis into halting their support for Gaza and ensuring safe maritime passage.
The U.S. attacks have killed dozens and injured hundreds across multiple Yemeni cities in recent strikes.
Meanwhile, Israel intensified its assault on Gaza early today, killing over 400 people, including 150 children, and wounding around 600 others.
Houthi leader Abdul Malik Al-Houthi condemned Israel’s actions, declaring that it had "crossed all red lines" in its continued genocide in Gaza, and warning of serious consequences.
