ALBAWABA - The government in Israel intends to restart the war in the Gaza Strip within 10 days if Hamas does not continue to release Israeli hostages, local media in Tel Aviv said on Monday.
Israel's Channel 12 quoted unnamed political sources: "The Israeli political leadership has decided that if Hamas does not continue to release the kidnapped, the Israeli army will return to fighting by the end of next week at the latest."
"Despite the mediators asking the Israelis to wait a few more days to exhaust the talks with Hamas, there seems to be no breakthrough," the Hebrew channel said.
In early March, the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire deal between Hamas and Israel, which had lasted 42 days, ended without a new agreement on a new phase or an extension for the first phase.
It is worth noting that the first phase of the Gaza deal lasted for 42 days and went into effect on Jan. 19.
Israel stopped humanitarian aid from entering the Gaza Strip as the ceasefire deal between Hamas and Tel Aviv expired, the Prime Minister Netanyahu's Office (PMO) said on Sunday.
"With the completion of the first phase of the hostage deal and in light of Hamas's refusal to accept the Witkoff framework for continuing negotiations—which Israel had agreed to—Prime Minister Netanyahu has decided that, as of this morning, the entry of all goods and supplies into the Gaza Strip will be halted," Netanyahu's office said in a statement.
