ALBAWABA - According to a report by the Israeli daily Maariv, the Israeli government reached out to clan heads in Gaza to negotiate to hand over the ruling of Gaza after the brutal aggression on the enclave ended, which in return they refused.
Maariv reported that the communication with the Gazan clan heads was made through the United Nations, where the clan heads stipulated that any post-war ruling of Gaza, including administrative matters, must be in coordination with Hamas.
Israeli negotiators said that they chose to resort to clan heads across Gaza in hopes of eliminating the influence Hamas has on the enclave, however, the efforts ceased to move forward as the clans did not agree to comply with the Israeli conditions.
The report further detailed that the Palestinian families held meetings with UN officials and affirmed their willingness to take part in humanitarian administrative matters as long as Hamas is included in the process.
Maariv also alleged that Israel planned to delegate "civil administrative matters" to the clans while retaining the security and military responsibilities in Israeli hands.
The Maariv article follows statements made by Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on Tuesday, in which he suggested Majed Faraj, the director of the Palestinian Authority intelligence apparatus, as a suitable candidate to oversee the Gaza Strip temporarily.
According to a report by Israel's national broadcaster Kan, Faraj's name came up in closed-door meetings with other Palestinian figures.
Al-Aqsa Flood operation against Israel
Hamas military group announced on Oct. 7 a military operation called "Al-Aqsa Flood" against Israel which is the biggest offensive in decades.
Palestinian fighters “infiltrated” Israel from the Gaza Strip and captured military bases and took hostages as photos and videos went viral online showing Hamas fighters on vehicles inside Israel and others paragliding into occupation territory.
In response, Israeli armed forces announced targeting Hamas positions inside the Gaza Strip. Thousands were killed, and dozens of thousands of others were injured in the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.
The latest statistIics by the Ministry of Health in Gaza revealed that the death toll from Israeli brutal pounding on the Gaza Strip since October 7 has soared to 31,000+ people, with more than 73,000+ injuries.
Since then, approximately 85% of Gazans have been displaced, all of whom are suffering from severe food insecurity, and the healthcare system has collapsed. Hundreds of thousands of people lack shelter, and aid trucks are entering the area at a lower rate than before the conflict began.
