The investigation department at the Israeli police decided not to charge policemen, who were involved in the killing of 13 Israeli Arabs during October 2000 protests.

The department decided to close the case alleging lack of evidence against the accused.

Families of the victims held a sit-in before the Israeli journalists' headquarters protesting the closure of the case and considered it as an Israeli deliberate disrespect of their sons' blood, vowing to pursue the case against the "killers of their children" in international courts.

The department's findings contradict earlier findings by the "Ur Committee" that affirmed the direct involvement and responsibility of the Israeli police chief over the unjustified shooting.

The 13 were killed during demonstrations held in support of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip shortly after the Aqsa intifada started in late September 2000.
