A 40-year-old Palestinian who lives with his Arab Israeli wife in Shfaram village in the north Israel was arrested Thursday by the Israeli authorities for “revenge remarks” he made during a mass funeral of Palestinians killed Tuesday in Nablus.
Radio Israel did not identify the detainee, but said one of the victims of the missile assault, in which five Hamas leaders, a journalist and two children were murdered, was his relative.
Apparently, collaborators informed Israeli security authorities that the man vowed to carry out a suicide attack inside Israeli for the assassination of his relative and fellow Palestinians.
Meanwhile, Haaretz said that two activists from the Arab Movement for Renewal (Ta'al), which is headed by MK Ahmed Tibi, had been arrested overnight on suspicion of incitement. The two are among the party's younger activists. Their remand has not yet been extended.
On Wednesday, the two distributed flyers in Arab neighborhoods. The flyers attacked the policies of the Israeli government, especially the "liquidations" of the Hamas activists in Nablus, said the paper.
Thirteen Arab Israelis were killed by the security forces in October during demonstrations they staged in support of their Palestinian brothers in the West Bank and Gaza.
Observers at the time noted that although Jewish citizens were also rioting and blocking roads, they did not suffer the same barrage of bullets that the Israeli police leveled at their ethnic Arab compatriots – Albawaba.com
