ALBAWABA- Amid rapidly escalating hostilities between Israel and Iran, unconfirmed reports have surfaced alleging the assassination of former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Ahmadinejad has reportedly been shot and killed in a street attack in Tehran, along with his wife and two sons, according to Azerbaijani state television.
However, Ahmadinejad’s office denied assassination reports after widespread rumors of a killing in Tehran. Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is alive and in good health, his office confirmed Monday, denying earlier unverified reports that he had been killed in a shooting attack in Tehran.
“Reports of President Ahmadinejad’s assassination are completely untrue,” his office said in a statement, reported by AlHadath.
While Iranian state media and officials have not issued any formal confirmation, the claim is circulating widely across regional platforms and social media.
If verified, the killing of such a high-profile political figure would mark a dramatic escalation in the current conflict, potentially triggering severe retaliation from Tehran.
Ahmadinejad, who served as president from 2005 to 2013, remains a polarizing figure in Iranian politics and a vocal critic of Western policies.
