ALBAWABA - Iranian missiles were able to pass Israel's anti-missile systems and hit Nevatim airbase and Negev airbase on Saturday night, an American source told ABC News.
According to the ABC report, five Iranian missiles struck the Nevatim airbase causing damage to the main runway, a C-130 transport aircraft, as well as destroying multiple storage facilities.
Nonetheless, the US official revealed to ABC that four other Iranian ballistic missiles hit the Negev airbase, however, no significant damage was reported.
This comes amid estimations by American and Western officials that Israel will possibly launch an attack on Iran to respond to the latter's Saturday night attack on Monday.
In addition, an informed Iranian source told Reuters that Tehran informed Washington via Qatar, Turkey and Switzerland and revealed the day scheduled to carry out the attack on Israel.
On Saturday night, Iran announced starting a retaliatory attack against Israel by launching more than 300 drones and missiles toward targets in Tel Aviv, Israeli military officials said.
According to Israeli military sources, 99 percent of the drones and missiles were intercepted by Israel and its allies; the US, the UK and France.
Iran's attack came weeks after a strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria killing seven IRGC members including two generals. Iran blamed Israel for carrying out the attack.
