Foreign ministers meeting in advance of an Islamic summit proposed Friday to call on all Muslim countries to break off relations with Israel, according to a document seen by AFP.

The proposal, which will be brought before the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) summit on Sunday, "invites member states that have relations with Israel or who have taken measures toward the establishment of such relations as part of the peace process to break them."

OIC foreign ministers on Friday night concluded two days of discussions that focused on the six weeks of violence in the Palestinian territories.

The OIC's 56 members will gather in the Qatari capital through Tuesday for their ninth summit, called "the summit of the Al-Aqsa Intifada" in reference to the landmark mosque in Israeli-held east Jerusalem – DOHA (AFP)
