Iraq and Syria have signed an agreement for joint cooperation in the field of irrigation.

The agreement was signed by Iraqi Minister of Irrigation Rasoul Abdul Hussein Swadi and Syrian Minister of Irrigation Muhammed Radwan Maeteeni, according to an Iraq News Agency (INA) report Wednesday.

The agreement includes exchanging expertise and setting up new joint companies specialized in irrigation and potable water.

Following the signature ceremonies, the ministers affirmed the need of strengthening relations between Baghdad and Damascus.

Moreover, they called on Turkey to resume triplet talks, which were blocked since 1992 to reach an agreement between the three countries located on the Euphrates, INA added. (Albawaba.com)
