Iraq is looking to establish a free-trade zone with Morocco similar to the ones Baghdad has set up with Egypt, Syria and Tunisia, reported AFP, quoting Iraqi newspapers on Tuesday.
Iraq's Trade Minister Mohammad Mehdi Saleh and Moroccan counterpart Mustafa Mansuri have examined "details on the establishment of a free-trade zone following the example of the agreements Iraq has with Egypt, Syria and Tunisia," papers said.
The two countries also sealed a "series of bilateral agreements" during the meeting of the joint Moroccan-Iraqi cooperation committee, established to promote economic and trade relations, according to the official MAP news agency.
"These agreements will help boost the level of trade between the two countries," Saleh was quoted as saying.
Mansuri flew into Baghdad on March 29 at the head of a 160-member delegation including ministers, bankers and businessmen.
The volume of exchanges between the two countries is presently estimated at 267 million dollars per year, said MAP – Albawaba.com
