At least 44 Iraqis were killed in massive US bombing in the eastern areas of Fallujah.

The bombing was aimed at destroying buildings in which members of Abu Musab Zarqawi group were meeting, the US Army said. Witnesses and hospitals sources, however, said 13 houses were destroyed in the bombing and women and children were among the dead. Several injured people were admitted in hospital after the bombing.

Three buildings were destroyed in bombing earlier to this strikes, which left several Iraqis to death.

Fallujah hospital sources confirmed death of only 30 people, including women and children, adding that 27 wounded people were also admitted. Health Ministry spokesman Saad al-Amili said 17 children and two women were among the injured. (albawaba.com)
