A senior commander in Iran’s Revolutionary Guard called on Sunday for the Islamic Republic to put Mir Hossein Mousavi on trail for leading a “velvet coup” to topple the regime in the wake of the disputed presidential election. The official Islamic Republic News Agency quoted Yadollah Jvanai as saying, “If Mousavi, Khatami ... and Karroubi are the main elements of a velvet coup in Iran, which they are, it is expected that judicial bodies and intelligence officials go to them to put out the fire of sedition, arrest, try and punish them.”
Meanwhile, Iranian PressTV reported Sunday that Mohammad Karami-Rad, member of the National Security Commission, said Majlis officials are “working on a complaint against Mousavi.” “We are pursuing the complaint against Mousavi and soon this letter of complaint will be handed to the judiciary so that the legal proceeding is conducted [on the matter] and the rioters are brought to justice,” he told Iran’s Journalist Club.
