Former Iranian president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani warned the Europeans that there are limits to his country's capacity for compromise as they pushed ahead with a resolution against Tehran's nuclear program.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Rafsanjani projected that the Europeans, represented by Britain, France and Germany, will have to back down on their position. "If they behave like this, our capacity for compromise will naturally shrink and we will act more independently," said the official, according to IRNA. "We will never part from our compromise policy, but we will not go back on our course either. "Our compromise will continue up to the point that they (the Europeans) do not want to deviate us from our main goal which is to achieve our rights. "So far, we have proceeded quite well and we are now on the brink
of (achieving) full outcome," Rafsanjani said, adding `we think those who are taking such a position against Iran will have to retreat in the next couple of months`.
Rafsanjani stressed that Iran is open to a `deal` with the
Europeans as long as the country`s legitimate rights to ARE observed. "They (the Europeans) can now a work on a deal with us over certain issues provided that our rights are respected," he said. (Albawaba.com)
