Iran and Sudan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Tuesday at the end of the fifth meeting of the Iran-Sudan Joint Economic and Technical Cooperation
Commission, reported Iran’s official news agency (IRNA).
The MOU was signed at the meeting between Iran's Minister of Construction Jihad Mohammad Saidi-Kia and visiting Sudanese Minister of Energy and Mining Awad Ahmad Al-Jaz, said the agency.
Three sub-committees on technical-developmental, industrial, commercial and financial-economic also met to study joint cooperation between Iran and Sudan.
The two sides reviewed the status of bilateral trade exchanges and underlined the need for upgrading trade in various fields, said the agency.
It added that the two parties also announced that an Iran-Sudan commercial council would be formed and it was agreed that each side would nominate 15 merchants to other side.
The Iranian side of the joint economic council expressed willingness to set up a trade center to promote the export of technical and engineering services, according to IRNA.
Sudan has shown interest in the purchase of 960 Iranian-made tractors, and has proposed joint-investment for the construction of small-scale power stations of 2-5 megawatts in Sudan, said the agency – Albawaba.com
