Iran is offering some eight billion dollars in housing and infrastructure projects to foreign firms at a two-day construction fair beginning Tuesday, the state IRNA news agency said.

Some 30 international firms will join 90 Iranian companies for the two-day event at which 7.84 billion dollars in projects are up for grabs, it reported Monday.

Among the construction projects are more than 100 residential and commercial properties worth a total of 1.3 billion dollars and eight railway lines valued at 5.7 billion dollars, it said.

Iran is also soliciting bids for work on a highway to link Tehran to the Caspian Sea along its northern border, as well as other projects including bridges, mosques and hotels.

Firms from Australia, China, Denmark, Egypt, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Switzerland, Syria, the United Arab Emirates and Ukraine are taking part, IRNA said -- TEHRAN (AFP)
