Iran and Russia agreed Thursday to expand cooperation in the field of construction and housing, reported the Iranian News Agency (IRNA).

The agreement was reached during a visit by Iran's minister of housing and urban development, Ali Abdolalizadeh, to Moscow, said the agency.

Based on a memorandum of understanding between the two sides, Iran and Russia will cooperate in constructing quake-proof buildings, said the agency.

Both countries have recently enhanced cooperation in various fields.

In March, President Mohammed Khatami will pay an official visit to Moscow during which he will sign several agreements with Russia, according to Iranian press reports -- Albawaba.com
