Two thieves who robbed several jewelry stores across Tehran had the fingers of their right hands amputated as punishment, press reports said on Monday.
Asghar Ghassemi, 29, and 36-year-old Shapour Madadi each had their four right-hand fingers cut off in line with Iran's sharia Islamic law. Newspapers did not say when the punishment was carried out.
In addition to amputations, Iranian law also calls for the death penalty for those convicted of armed robbery -- TEHRAN (AFP)
