India and Iran have started talks to finalize an agreement on cooperation in dealing with terrorism, drug trafficking and security issues, according to a report Friday.

The discussions were held in the Iranian capital of Tehran last weekend between an Indian delegation led by Home Secretary Gopalaswami and an Iranian team led by his counterpart Ali Asghar Ahmadi, the Press Trust of India news agency reported.

India suggested that the scope of the existing Joint Working Group on narcotics trafficking be expanded to include terrorism and related matters, Gopalaswami told the news agency. (Albawaba.com)
