Iran's First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref concluded a three-day visit to Pakistan, aimed at enhancing trade
relations between the two neighbors, and arrived in Tehran Saturday evening.
Speaking to reporters upon arrival about the
outcome of his visit, Aref said, "We decided to upgrade bilateral relations in all aspects in an enduring shape."
Cited by IRNA news agency, Aref said that during his visit, seven agreements were signed, including for establishing a joint investment firm, avoiding double
taxation as well as promoting trade development centers as well as preferential tariffs.
In addition, several other agreements were concluded on customs cooperation as well as scientific, cultural and educational exchanges, he added, according to the agency.
"We reached understanding on 14 areas of cooperation, the documents of which will be signed in the future with the follow-up of the related ministries," Aref said.
"Transfer of the Iranian gas to Pakistan, expansion of bilateral cooperation in the transportation field and formation of specialized committees are among [the] other outcome[s] of this visit," the Iranian first
vice president added.
Meanwhile, Pakistan's Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs Shaukat Aziz on Saturday disclosed that the Iran-Pakistan joint experts committee on the gas pipeline project is to meet next month, he told a state-run Pakistan Television (PTV) talk show on Iran-Pakistan relations. (Albawaba.com)
