Iran has dispatched a third shipment of Matiz automobiles to Syria, reported the official Iranian news agency, IRNA.

Previously, 120 Daewoo Ceilo models and the Matiz were exported to Syria.

Matiz has had an enthusiastic reception in Syria, an Iranian official said, adding, "hopefully, the automobile exports to Syria will reach 150 units in the near future." Matiz production began last year in the Arg Special Economic Zone in southern Kerman.

In May, Iranian Minister of Housing and Urban Development Ali Abdolali-Zadeh estimated that trade exchanges between Tehran and Damascus would reach $200 million in the current Iranian year, which started March 21.

Iran's exports to Syria in the year ending March 20, 2001 stood at $150 million – Albawaba.com
