ALBAWABA- Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has officially declared the end of the 12-day war with Israel, announcing a ceasefire and expressing Tehran’s commitment to de-escalation, provided that Israel also upholds the truce.
“We are witnessing a ceasefire and cessation of the 12-day war,” Pezeshkian said, adding that the outcome was “determined by the will and authority of the great Iranian nation.”
In a balanced message mixing firmness and diplomacy, President Pezeshkian emphasized Iran's readiness for dialogue while reaffirming the country's right to self-defense.
“We will not violate the ceasefire unless the Zionist entity does,” he stated, while also signaling openness to negotiations: “Iran is ready for dialogue and will defend its people’s rights at the negotiating table.”
Pezeshkian clarified that Iran has no intention of confronting regional countries and that Tehran’s response was in direct retaliation for a U.S. strike. Speaking with the leaders of Qatar and Oman, he reassured them that Iran did not target their territories, and both states voiced support for Iran’s right to self-defense.
In a separate phone call with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Iranian president said Tehran is prepared to resolve tensions with the United States within the framework of international law. “We do not demand anything beyond our rights,” he said, welcoming “support from friendly and brotherly nations” to advance peace.
The Saudi Crown Prince responded by condemning all Israeli actions against Iran and reaffirmed that no American operation would be allowed from regional airbases. He stressed that neither Saudi Arabia nor any Gulf state would open its airspace for attacks on Iran.
Despite the ceasefire announcement, the situation remains fragile. Israeli Chief of Staff warned that “the battle with Iran is not over,” while the U.S. president and the UN Secretary-General called on both parties to respect the truce and avoid further escalation.
