A high-ranking member and co-founder of the now-banned Freedom Movement of Iran died in Tehran Friday following a brief illness.
Yadollah Sahabi passed away at the age of 96 two weeks after being admitted to a hospital following a cerebral hemorrhage, according to IRNA. Authorities pronounced him clinically dead a week later.
IRNA said that a close relative of Sahabi claimed a funeral procession would be held for the activist Sunday at the Tehran University.
A university professor, Sahabi was a well-known writer and a Tehran legislator after the Islamic Revolution.
He is the father of a senior member of the Freedom Movement of Iran, Ezzatollah, who was sent to prison in March on charges he was part of a conspiracy to topple the Islamic Republic. (Albawaba.com)
