Local Law Enforcement Forces (LEF) personnel seized 27.5 kg of opium Saturday, Iran's news agency (IRANA) reported Saturday.

Quoting an official, the agency added that confiscated drugs were discovered hidden in a residential unit in Abadan after local residents tipped the LEF of their location.

Iran has waged a war against drug trafficking especially in its eastern border area, where drugs from Afghanistan and Pakistan are smuggled through Iran to Europe and the Gulf states -- Albawaba.com
